Miss Varcoe's Sustainable Weekend!

On Saturday the 28th of May, my best friend Kat and I went to the local park to help plant trees. I saw a sign there recently saying they wanted some local people to help plant some trees. It turns out that every year the Auckland Council plants around 500 trees in this park alone! It's so great to know that our Council is working hard to keep planting lots of trees to look after our environment! Kat and I had a great time helping - there ended up being about 20-30 people there helping plant the trees. 

Planting weekends are happening all around the city every weekend. They're a great way to get out with the family (kids are allowed to go too) and it's free! I've attached a list of places and dates in case you want to go to one with your family!

Tim's trip

Tim left at 6:00. We had to figure out how long Tim had at his grandmas house.  He wanted to be back home to his house to watch his favourite tv show by 7:00pm.   On the way to his grandma's house there are hills so he can go 14 kph .  But on the way back he can go 21 kph.So we figured out that he can spend 10 minutes with his grandma and he will have 50 minutes to get there and back .by Rana and Kirsten

Our trip to the zoo

On Wednesday 17th May we traveled on a bus to get to Auckland zoo.When we got  there we were excited to see the animals and learn about endangered species and also about there habitats.Our favourite animals were the Orangutans and the Sumatran tigers, here are some things  we learned about them.We learned that Orangutans are 97%percent like us and that a Sumatran tiger can climb up trees so they can catch  there prey and they are carnivores so they eat meat,lastly we learned about something called CHIPP it stands for climate change,habitat loss,introduced species,pollution and poach.So we've  learned a lot of things from our trip to the zoo and we've also gotten a lot of information.

Anti-bullying day!

On the 20th of May, it was Anti bullying day! Room 2 shared honest bully facts with each other.Such as the names we have been called and the bad things we've done!At second block we did warm fuzzies.warm fuzzies are basically not a thing but it's kind of like a verb.Dont bully others even if it's a joke!

Room 2, I am so proud of you all today! You were very honest when we were talking about bullying and times that we had been bullied as well as times that we had been bullies. Your honesty helped us talk about the issues that we have as people. As a result, we could find out the power that our words have on other people. If we use out words to bring people down, it is very hard to put them back together (as we found with our paper people)! If we use our words for good, we can make someone feel amazing, happy, and loved. 

So well done for your amazing work today! Use your power and your words for good. Remember the quote from Mother Theresa: "Spread love wherever you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier".

In room 2 we made paper planes for strand maths.We measured how far they went and we had to measure CORRECTLY other wise we would be disqualified! Racheal and Ayesha came first, Siaosi and Quaid came second,Ezekiel,Devesh and Yinnara came in third place.

Pocket money 💰💵

We. Would rather be David because every day David's pay gets doubled there for getting more money than Sally. We figured this out by adding up the payment that they got and already after just eight days David has got more money than Sally . The equation said that David gets $1 on the first day and every day after that his payment gets doubled the amount of the day befor.  This is what the adding up looked like.

Altogether David got  $255 pocket money.

Sally on the other hand would get $10 on the first day and $2 every day after that.  This is our working out.

💎Today in room 2 hermione granger payed us a visit and answered all our questions about hogwarts and herself.We asked her open,closed and rich questions.Before she went she let us look at her wand and feel it.Sadly she had to leave and go home to hogwarts.💎
